Hi everyone,
So its been 3 weeks since I had surgery to remove the titanium plates from my right forearm. I'm healing well, and have most used back in my hand. All is good, except pain when I squeeze my hand shut, but that's avoidable, so I'm really happy at the moment.
I expected recovery to take alot longer since when I initially broke it ( 10 years ago), i took around about 3 years to get back into drawing. So I'm pleasantly surprised.
I recently finished an Aaron Paul portrait, which I think turned out better than I could have dreamed. I watched some tutorials on You tube by Rick Fortson (aka Rick-Kills-Pencils) rick-kills-pencils.deviantart.… . I learned new techniques, and about new tools (well new for me, since I'd never used a blending stump or kneadable eraser before). I also bought myself a magnification light, which I found really helpful to see all the tiny details of the eye. Again, I really didn't expect my first portrait after surgery to turn out well at all. But its been received well on FB and twitter and I'm very excited. And have recently started a fanpage on facebook while I was recovering www.facebook.com/pages/Drawing…
I'm currently working on a drawing of my boyfriend, and I plan on giving it to him when he visits in late April from America, I'm really excited about that. And last night I also started a Brad Pitt drawing, which shows alot of contrast between dark and light.
I'm really excited to be back drawing, and it seems I get a surge of adrenaline when I draw lately, which I think is awesome! It's sort of addictive, and makes me want to draw more.
Well, I think that's about it. I hope everyone enjoys seeing more of my work as I post it.
Have fun, enjoy life, and be safe

Mel
